Module 1 Learning Objectives
Given a standard IBM-compatible personal computer with Microsoft Excel 2016 installed, after reading the assigned study guide pages as well as watching the instructor-led activity of video(s), at the end of the module the student will be able to:
  • Identify the major categories of data shown in the study guide and directed by the instructor
  • Identify the three categories of formatting; General, Number, and Text, as shown in the study guide and directed by the instructor
  • Imitate the instructor’s action in applying General, Number, and Text formatting to cells
  • Identify three ways to access the Format Cells dialog box as shown in the study guide and directed by the instructor
  • Identify the various tabs used in the Format Cells dialog box including: Number, Alignment, Font, Border, Fill, and Protection.
  • Imitate the instructor’s action in performing basic operations using the Format Cells tabs including: Number, Alignment, Font, Border, Fill, and Protection

Given a standard IBM-compatible personal computer with Microsoft Excel 2016 installed, after reading the assigned study guide pages as well as watching the instructor-led activity of describing the subject matter on video(s), at the end of the module the student will be able to:
  • Identify differences between a range of cells and an Excel table as shown in the study guide and directed by the instructor
  • Imitate the instructor’s action in performing basic operations used in creating an Excel table
  • Imitate the instructor’s action in performing basic operations used in customizing an Excel table using table-specific formulas
  • Imitate the instructor’s action used in customizing an Excel table using a Name Box

  • Identify the ways to prevent scrambling of data while performing a sort on an Excel table
