Learning Objectives – Intro to Excel 2016 Data Analysis

Learning Objectives
Module 1 Learning Objectives
Given a standard IBM-compatible personal computer with Microsoft Excel 2016 installed, after reading the assigned study guide pages as well as watching the instructor-led video(s), at the end of the module the student will be able to:

  • List the categories of Excel data analysis
  • List the various data analysis tools used to clean up, sort, and categorize imported data
  • Imitate the instructor’s action necessary for importing a Comma Separated Value data file
  • Imitate the instructor’s action necessary for importing a table from Microsoft Access
  • Imitate the instructor’s action necessary for importing another Excel table 

Module 2 Learning Objectives:
Given a standard IBM-compatible personal computer with Microsoft Excel 2016 installed, after reading the assigned study guide pages as well as watching the instructor-led video(s), at the end of the module the student will be able to:

  • List the Excel Standards for Storing Data
  •  Describe how the data tools section of the Ribbon is used for contributing to data analysis 
  • Describe the steps used for cleaning data for recently imported ranges or tables

   

Module 3 Learning Objectives:
Given a standard IBM-compatible personal computer with Microsoft Excel 2016 installed, after reading the assigned study guide pages as well as watching the instructor-led video(s), at the end of the module the student will be able to:

  • Describe the various ways Excel users can sort data

Module 4 Learning Objectives:
Given a standard IBM-compatible personal computer with Microsoft Excel 2016 installed, after reading the assigned study guide pages as well as watching the instructor-led video(s), at the end of the module the student will be able to:

  • Imitate the instructor’s actions for creating VLOOKUP AND HLOOKUP FORMULAS
  • Describe how VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP functions operate
  • Describe how the Insert Function is used to create correct syntax construction for Excel functions
  • Imitate the instructor’s action in appropriate use of the Insert Function feature for constructing formulas and functions
  • Describe what functions and formulas are used for data analysis
  • Describe how formulas are nested to create additional functionality in a formula
